Photoshop Transparent Masking
The transparent masking is a group of layers to which a mask is applied. The bottommost as in base layer defines the visible boundaries of the entire group. Transparent masking is also known as clipping mask. It is one of the best technique of Photoshop. It uses one layer to determine the transparency of another layer. For Photoshop transparency mask, we create a layer at the bottom of the layer which one we want to apply the transparency. From this bottom layer we can control the visibility of this layer above. Well it may seem a bit inconsistent to the beginners if they compare the transparent mask with the layer mask. It also looks like the transparent mask is working inversely comparing to the layer mask. In that case, for the layer mask we can paint black color on the mask to make the pixels invisible in the layer. But for the transparent mask, we are doing the exact opposite thing. The top layer will be visible if the base layer has pixels in that area. And if the base layer doesn’t have pixels, then the pixels in the top layer will be transparent totally.
